A Faithful Steward

A Faithful Steward

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much” (Luke 16:10).

Have you ever wondered what good stewardship entails and why it matters? A faithful steward does not allow pride, greed, or the desire to be popular taint his motives. He will not be lured or tempted into disobedience. That’s why, Paul explained in 1 Thessalonians 2, his message was true to God’s instruction. His motives were pure toward God—and toward the Thessalonians. All of his actions and methods were open and aboveboard.

Why did Paul think it necessary to underscore the obligation he felt as a faithful steward of the Gospel? Because stewards are sometimes tempted to go into business for themselves. Many people today are exploiting the Gospel for personal gain. They live in big houses and fly in private jets, purchased by people who give sacrificially to their organizations. Paul could have profited from the Gospel as well, but he wanted the Thessalonians to know that his motives were pure and the Gospel he preached to them was untainted by greed or the ambition for fame.

You and I are stewards as well. Like Paul, we have been entrusted by God with the Good News of Jesus Christ, and we need to manage this precious asset with absolute integrity and purity. We need to share the Good News with everyone around us.

We are stewards of our finances, which God has entrusted to us. We are stewards of our time, which He has entrusted to us. We are stewards of the Gospel, which He has entrusted to us. We are stewards of all that we are and all that we have. We own nothing, not even ourselves. We have to give an account to the Master. And He is coming soon.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the high calling of stewardship You have given me. Help me to stay focused on You and to bring all aspects of my life into submission to You. May I steward the resources You have given me with integrity so that my witness is not tainted. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Secure in the Storm

Secure in the Storm

Secure in the Storm

When we go through tough situations, Satan takes the opportunity to throw his fiery darts. He tempts us to entertain our worst fears and anxieties so that, if we do not guard our hearts with God’s Word of Truth, we risk becoming unglued. Things were no different for the Thessalonian Christians. Satan was using false teachers to sow seeds of doubt and despair as they suffered persecution in order to undermine their faith in Christ.

Read 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17. Because the circumstances in Thessalonica in the first century were so dire for believers, when they received news from false teachers that Jesus had already returned, they believed the report and were devastated. They had rightly placed their hope in Jesus, knowing that He would one day set right everything that had gone wrong. But then, doubt began to grow in their hearts.

So in 2 Thessalonians, Paul exhorted these believers “not to become easily unsettled or alarmed” by the false teachings that had been attributed to him (2:2). He assured them as they suffered affliction for their faith that Jesus had not forgotten them. At the same time, he also warned them that before Jesus returns, things will get much worse. He wrote, “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed” (v. 3).

For the last two thousand years, Satan has been trying to thwart God’s salvific work in the world. He aims to frustrate God’s plans by unleashing his hatred toward the church to keep us from the joy of redemption in Christ—to keep us from worshiping God in the Spirit and in Truth. And his final, desperate push will be through “the man of lawlessness”—the Antichrist (v. 3).

You would think that Paul’s message to expect even more desperate circumstances at the end times would have caused the Thessalonians even greater despair. But Paul was in fact assuring them—and us—that all who belong to Jesus will be able to stand firm, even during that difficult hour. For, Christ promised us: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:27-28).

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your amazing promises that carry me through every trial. Thank You that no one can snatch me from Your hand. May I find strength in You and bring glory to Your name. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).

Faith in the Battle

Faith in the Battle

Read Exodus 14:10-18

Fear is the great enemy of faith, and it almost brought about the destruction of God’s people. After God had rescued the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, they found themselves with their backs to the Red Sea, facing the mighty chariots of Egypt. They were trapped, seemingly with no way out. In their fear, they cried out to Moses, saying, “Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’?” (Exodus 14:12).

When faced with an impossible situation, the Israelites didn’t remember the Nile turning to blood, the frogs, the hailstones, the death of the firstborn, or any of the other miraculous works of God, who had powerfully worked on their behalf. Instead, their first thought was to return to Egypt. But God told His people to move forward, not backward—and He parted the Red Sea to make a way for them. There truly is no such thing as an impossible situation in God’s sight.

How many times has God wanted you to move forward, but instead you listened to your fears and went back? Faith requires that we move forward. Faith means taking risks. Faith is moving out of our comfort zone. In the Christian life, standing still is an impossibility, for faith is a climb. We’re either going forward in faith or we’re going backward in fear. That’s why I pray for someone reading this message may you grow in faith to withstand every circumstances this month in the name of Jesus Christ (Amen)

Sufficient Grace

Sufficient Grace

Sufficient Grace

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7)

Without a doubt, no matter what storms you face in life, God will pull you to safety if you call on Him. He is the one that can save you from certain defeat and give you the hope you need. When you pray to Him, He will deliver you from the sin that threatens your fellowship with Him.

An eternal sense of peace and security is readily available to us through prayer. Panic and anxiety are no match for God’s grace. He goes before us into life’s battles. The victory is ours, though it does not come through our efforts or strength. It comes from His hands and His grace. No one is more committed to our success than Christ.

No matter what you face, God’s grace is sufficient. His power is revealed and made perfect through your weakness. Never be ashamed to cry out to the Lord. He listens for you and will come to you, fulfilling the promise of His matchless, perfect grace.

Prayer: Lord, my Savior, thank You for coming to my rescue. I know that Your grace is sufficient for me. Thank You for being my peace and security. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Standing at the Crossroads

Standing at the Crossroads

Exodus 3:7 tells us God heard the cries of His people. He knew they were suffering in exile. Yet their promised deliverance lingered, and because days stretched into weeks and weeks into months and months into years, they began to wonder if God had forgotten them.

Have you ever caught yourself wondering the same thing? Maybe you have obeyed Him and followed Him faithfully, but now you are standing at a crossroads of hope and doubt.

Choose to hope in the Lord. He has not forgotten you. He has heard your cry, and He is working behind the scenes to deliver you. Timing is everything with God. He knows when you are in the right position to move on to the next step. You can be sure of this: He won’t be late; He will be right on time!

Moses had almost forgotten what it was like to hear the distressing cries of God’s people. He had been banished to the wilderness, but not to be punished. Instead, he was being trained for a greater purpose.

In the beginning, Moses thought he had to take matters into his own hands. He ended up killing an Egyptian, which was not a part of God’s plan. After this incident, the Lord drew him aside for 40 years—silencing his heart and tempering Moses so he would be willing to humbly obey and trust His leading.

If you feel as though you have been set aside by the Lord, know that you are not being punished. You are being readied for the next step. Make sure your obedience is unconditional and your willingness to follow the Lord is sincere.

“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified” (Acts 20:32).

Have a blissful productive new week with divine victory in the name of Jesus Christ (Amen)

The Power of Light

The Power of Light

The Power of Light

Read Matthew 5:14-16.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told His disciples, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). What did He mean by that? He meant: Your light should shatter the darkness. Your light should lead others to Christ. Your light should expose error and lead people to the Truth.

Someone may say, “My faith is very private,” but that is not Biblical faith. True faith in Jesus is visible. It’s meant to be a light—and it’s meant to be a light for the world. Your light must shine in the marketplace, on the factory floor, in the boardroom, at the office, on your school campus. Wherever you go, there goes the light—because you are the light.

When people see someone who is loving and forgiving, joyful and generous, they take notice. When they see someone who is not short-tempered or angry but peaceful and content, they ask questions. And that is your greatest opportunity to tell them who changed you. Whether you know it or not, these people are wondering, ‘Can I, too, stop being so angry and selfish and fretful? Can I, too, have that peace no matter what comes my way?’ Jesus said when people see your light shining, they are going to glorify your Father in heaven (see Matthew 5:16).

Of course, not everyone loves the light. You see, every person you have ever met is either a child of light or a child of darkness. The whole world is divided that way. Every nation, every tribe, every tongue is divided between the children of light and the children of darkness. There are those who sit in darkness and have grown quite comfortable. They will not welcome your light because they know that by it their deeds will be exposed and reproved—and they don’t like the thought of that. They will feel threatened when they see your light, and their desire will be to push it far away or to put it out entirely. Don’t be surprised by this. Some people will ask questions, and we must be ready to give an answer, but some will not.

Today, make sure to do all you can to keep your light burning bright and strong. The way to do this is by walking closely with Jesus Christ, “The true light that gives light to everyone” (John 1:9).
Prayer: Father, forgive me for the times I have hidden the light of Christ in me. May I use every opportunity You bring to lead people to the Light of the World. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14).
